Oh Yes!
Written by Doreen Young
Oh no! You won’t win!
You enemy of mine!
You may think you gained a foothold when my soft waves of hair slowly fell away…
But no! This will not hinder me!
I’ll get a hat…soft and comforting… more carefree then my hair would be while I’m so tired.
Oh no! You won’t win!
You enemy of mine!
You may think you gained a foothold when tears wandered down my cheeks and my heart allowed despair to visit for a while….
But no! This will not restrain me!
I won’t hide-a-way from sunny days with dancing warm breezes… I’ll sit outdoors with my new chapeau and sip iced tea with my daughter.
Oh no! You won’t win!
I will be rid of you!
You think you gained a foothold when I felt unlovely and undesirable as my husband lay beside me in our bed….
But no! This will not hold me back!
I will console myself in a feminine cap and rest my head against his strong shoulder… as he strokes my cheek I listen to the love behind his words of good night.
Oh no! You won’t win!
I look in the mirror and gaze into the blue eyes beneath non–existing brows …and smile as I adjust my hat.
Oh yes!
This is beatable!
This is temporary!
Oh yes! I will win!
